General Dynamics Information Technology Senior Systems Administrator in Langley AFB, Virginia
Serves as a top level technical or functional expert, often working on multiple projects and programs.
Responsibilities: Perform day-to-day maintenance and support, system backup and restoration, configuration changes, upgrades and troubleshooting. Other functions include maintaining system operational availability, assist site personnel with capturing site variances, data migration (as required), application tuning, domain policy updates, applying security patches, submitting/closing trouble tickets (as required) and configuring the AOC baseline to minimize downtime. Augment AOC SPO personnel during major upgrade projects, developing solutions to technical issues, working with appropriate personnel to resolve discrepancy reports, providing on-the-job training to the system operators. Provide technical support of VMware systems.Completion of all applicable fielding prerequisites and post install releases Periodic Maintenance Updates (PMU), Critical System Updates (CSU), Fast Tracks (FT), Out Of Cycles (OOC) by applicable deadlines. Attend site and SPO meetings, as applicable and Track lessons learned and metrics and share with other CSFRs and SPO personnel.Position may require weekend and/or shift work.
Serves as a top level technical or functional expert supporting one or more clients and unlimited user groups.
Performs highly specialized technical tasks associated with cutting-edge technologies.
Works with user groups to solve business problems with available technology including hardware, software, databases, and peripherals.
Applies expert functional knowledge and experience to significant business projects or processes.
May perform business development activities, including providing technical input to proposal efforts.
Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff.
May serve as a technical task or project leader.
May have supervisory responsibilities.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant developments in area of expertise.
Participates in special projects as required.
Bachelors Degree in a related discipline.
Masters Degree preferred.
GDIT requirement: 10-15 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN AREA OF EXPERTISE.
