Engility is in need of a Jr. Systems Engineer to support our CDSA Program in Dam Neck, VA.

The Jr. Systems Engineer be responsible for troubleshooting problems, suggest enhancements to improve system performance as well as writing system scripts for daily administration and supporting documentation to automate repeatable tasks. The Jr Systems Engineer will install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software and hardware related problems. They will also be tasked with performing system backups and recovery as well as maintaining data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.

The Jr. Systems Engineer will assist with securing and hardening infrastructure technologies to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance requirements and Information Assurance Vulnerability (IAV) Management (IAVM); create; maintain system procedural and technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Secret Clearance

  • BS in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent experience and knowledge

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, including administration and management of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 or greater to include installation, configuration, optimization, backup and recovery. Experience may be substituted for a degree with qualified candidates.

  • Minimum of DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification, including Computing/Operating systems certification

  • Ability to conform to DoD Cybersecurity standards.

  • Linux system administration, security patching, OS upgrades, troubleshooting problems, and ensuring maximum availability

  • Configuring RHEL operating system, user accounts, file permissions, security certificates, mount disks

  • Virtual machine creation and maintenance using VMWare ESX and Virtual Center

  • Experience and knowledge of HBSS

  • Experience using Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Vulnerability Remediation Assessment Manager (VRAM)

  • Ability to work independently, as well as, collaborate effectively in a team oriented environment.

  • Work closely with the development team to support requirements and the release schedule.

  • At least 25% travel required
